Valerian calms the central nervous system. It is used against anxiety and overexertion. Valerian root is often used to help sleep. It helps to fall asleep faster, without feeling dazed when waking.
Valerian can be used as tea.
For some people the herb has a stimulating effect instead of a relaxing one. In this case it should not be used.
After intensive and long use it can cause headaches and restlessness.
